Day 1: Set Up
Crushed two tomatoes into a glass jar. Did not have any cloth so used a paper towel and rubber band to cover the tomatoes. Smelled like fresh tomatoes. I have always been hesitant to approach fermentation because it seems like a complex process that could easily go wrong but I shall see what happens in this fermentation process. I am not entirely sure that I will want to eat them at the end of this process.
Day 2 and 3:
No changes occurred. Still smells like tomatoes.
Day 4:
White mold appeared.
Day 5 (Last day of Fermentation):
More white mold appeared as well as some black mold. Perhaps I should have stirred the mixture more. It did not smell very good.
Reflection: Interesting process to complete. However, I was hesitant to preserve the tomatoes because of the mold. Changes between the first and last day were drastic. I also should have better documented with pictures for each day.
